The charming vacation cabin building can accommodate up to 8 guests with 2 bedrooms, 3 beds, and 2 bathrooms. During your vacation stay, you will have the entire log home to yourself. The Paper Moon is a lovely cabin building that is nestled amongst oak and elm trees in the quiet countryside, just 1.5 miles from downtown Wimberley. You’ll cross a low water crossing over the Pierce Creek, a wet-weather creek that runs through the front of the vacation property, as you drive in. This spacious cabin building was hand-built by a local Wimberley couple in 1985 and has been recently renovated by the current owners while still retaining its rustic charm.
The Paper Moon cabin building is an excellent spot for family and friends, but also provides the perfect spot for a romantic retreat. You can take the short drive into town for shopping and dining in Wimberley, or you can stay at the cabin building and enjoy the peaceful setting. You might watch the deer graze as you enjoy your morning cup of tea or coffee from the front porch rocking chairs, have a barbecue on the spacious covered deck, or sit out on the veranda and enjoy an evening in the hot tub and around the fire pit. When the day is done you can cozy up in the cabin warmed by the wood-burning stove and feel your stress melt away. You’ll love the views of the hills from the hot tub.
The Paper Moon has the privacy and serenity of a country home with all of the amenities of home. The log house has two bedrooms with a king-sized bed, a queen-sized bed and queen futon, two bathrooms, and a large loft with a queen bed. The living room has a fold-out couch and a wood-burning stove, a dining room with seating for 8, a hot tub, plenty of outdoor seating, a fire pit, and a large covered deck with a barbecue pit. The Paper Moon cabin building is a conscious vacation rental that offers full recycling, eco-friendly dish soap, and laundry soap, recycled paper products, a water filtration pitcher, and a landscape with native low-water plants.
The name Paper Moon comes from the popular portrait fad that began in the late 19th century. It was a fun way to get your portrait taken and the paper moon booths were often set up at fairs and carnivals. The owners enjoy these vintage-style portraits which often depict people with big grins, unlike the traditional portraits of the time. Guests have full access to the cabin building and the property. The water at the Pierce Creek low water crossing is designed to gently flow over the road. Please note, that the water in the creek can rise during periods of extremely heavy rain so you will want to use good judgment before crossing.
